UI/UX Designer: syllabus and modules

GenAI Essentials and Course Fundamentals

Effective and responsible GenAI for design tasks. Preparatory materials for a smooth start and aligned teamwork.

UX Design — Research

Design process, target audience analysis, hypothesis framing, research methods, journey mapping, prototyping. Start building your mobile app project.

Design Basics Extended

Visual foundations: grids, hierarchy, typography, color, contrast, accessibility. Systematizing UI elements for day-to-day work.

UI Design — Mobile App Design

State handling, components and variants, content behavior, crisp visuals, and handoff-ready layouts.

Web Interfaces

Designing web services, responsive patterns, navigation, accessibility, and an additional portfolio project.

Who this UI/UX designer track fits and who it does not

  • Fits: design beginners, professionals from adjacent fields (marketing, frontend), graphic designers moving into UX/UI.
  • Does not fit: those unwilling to work with research and iteration, or seeking only “pretty mockups” without process.

Problem → practical outcome in UI/UX

Unclear requirements → formalized goals, CJM, and feature prioritization.

Inconsistent visuals → a coherent design system with components.

Messy developer handoff → structured specs and annotations.

Subjective decisions → hypotheses, testing, and usage metrics.

Comparison with UI/UX alternatives

  • Self-learning: flexible, but lacks cohesive structure and quality checks.
  • Standalone tutorials: quick for narrow topics, yet miss end-to-end process.
  • Academic path: broader but slower and less tool- and handoff-oriented.

Outcomes after completing the UI/UX designer track

  • Two practical projects: a mobile app and a web service.
  • Competencies: UX research, prototyping, UI components, design system, accessibility, responsiveness.
  • Handoff: specs, states, tokens, and dev-ready files.
  • GenAI: core practices for analysis, UI variations, and documentation with ethical and responsible use.

Course Description

GenAI Essentials:Learn how to use GenAI effectively and responsibly
Course Fundamentals:We want you to join the course prepared and move quickly with the group when the training begins. Getting to know the theory and completing the following tasks will increase your productivity during the course and in the long run will help you get a job in a better company with a higher salary.

UX Design — Research:A competent designer begins with research. This module is devoted to the design process of working on the project, when it is necessary to investigate the target audience and find answers to many questions. We will learn all techniques and createown mobile application.

Design Basics Extended:Let's deal with the fundamental principles and laws of visual design in detail and learn how to use them in work, which will help you create a high-quality UI in the future. We will also deepen and consolidate knowledge of UI elements used in everyday work.

UI Design — Mobile App Design:When the work with the research is completed, you can safely proceed to «work with pixels» — to think about the appearance of the layout, the location and behavior of the content and much more. In this module, we will bring our application to a clean design ready for development.
Web Interfaces:We will practice working on web services —, learn how to make really convenient web interfaces and adapt them. Let's add another project to our portfolio.
