Course overview

Description generated based on course syllabus and open data.

What the MOTION DESIGNER motion design program includes

Focus on 2D and 3D animation: shapes, characters, materials, lighting, and simulations. Practice covers all stages from brief and moodboard to final render and compositing. The program includes creating 14 motion pieces, with 2 produced for a real client.

Tools: After Effects, Cinema 4D, Redshift/Octane Render

  • Editing and compositing in Adobe After Effects.
  • Modeling and animation in Cinema 4D.
  • Materials, lighting, and rendering in Redshift and Octane Render.
  • Texture detailing and dynamic simulations.

MOTION DESIGNER mentors

  • Serhii Shvets — video production team lead at Trinetix; TV experience, featured in Visual Atelier 8.
  • Vlad Zhelikhovskyi — motion graphic designer at Trinetix; projects for Talkable, Untime.
  • Mykhailo Slavov — Compositing Artist; collaborations with Sony Pictures and Wētā FX.
  • Stas Chuglazov — Technical Artist at GSC Game World; experience at Fractured Byte, Mortal Kombat 1.

Who MOTION DESIGNER suits and who it doesn’t

Who it suits

  • Motion design beginners seeking structured 2D/3D foundations.
  • Graphic designers and video editors transitioning to animation.
  • Junior 3D artists needing render, compositing, and pipeline skills.
  • Those aiming to assemble a coherent portfolio.

Who it doesn’t suit

  • Anyone expecting theory only without practical tasks.
  • Those unwilling to work with After Effects or Cinema 4D.

Problem → result in motion design

  • Problem: fragmented tool knowledge. Change: a consistent pipeline from idea to post-production.
  • Problem: lack of diverse works. Change: a set of pieces with 2D, 3D, simulations, and compositing.
  • Problem: issues with materials, lighting, rendering. Change: Redshift/Octane workflows for predictable outcomes.
  • Problem: uncertainty with technical details. Change: practice on realistic tasks and references.

Comparison with motion design alternatives

  • Self-learning: flexible, but high time cost for curation and pipeline building.
  • General graphic design courses: design basics, but little 3D and compositing.
  • Short workshops: point skills without systematic practice.
  • Academic programs: broad theory, less focus on current tools and production.

Outcomes of completing MOTION DESIGNER

  • A production approach formed: brief, pre-production, animation, render, compositing.
  • Hands-on skills in After Effects, Cinema 4D, Redshift/Octane.
  • Diverse pieces: 2D graphics, 3D objects and characters, simulations.
  • A portfolio aligned with the program, including real-client cases.
  • Understanding of industry contexts: advertising, gamedev, TV/film.
